Shelby Lynne: Identity Crisis album review

Well, I've never heard of this Shelby Lynne before. Apparently she won a Grammy so I guess that's a pretty big deal, but her songs only have about a million views on YouTube. So umm how did I end up doing a review of her album? Well, I was walking past a shop and there was a box with maybe five CD's in it and a sign that said free-take as many as you want. So I did. I haven't turned on my CD player yet but I've already decided to give my opinions on the music so here goes...*turns on powerpoint**puts in CD**presses play on first track:Telephone*hmm. Pretty bad lyrics, sorta tuneless, awful chorus(now it's a big blown up thing?!You really shouldn't be able to put that in any song and get a grammy)also-"just gonna sit here in the midnight air," pretty clunky. A half star. Bad song, next.(10 Rocks)Actually, much better for her voice and the lyrics are fairly satisfying. Again, backing vocals questionable but actually really quite good lyrics( especially considering that this is the same woman who wrote that awful first song)Three stars. Pretty okay,next. (If I Were Smart)Well...nice guitar. But err otherwise unbearable. Please make it stop. A quarter star, next plz.(Gotta be Better)Ooh, groovy guitar there Shelby. Ooh, but the deep voice I dunno..My radio is broken and the static is the sound-eek Shel, don'tcha reckon that's a bit awkward sounding and well,nonsensical.But I still think fast paced is better for ya so... can we agree on two stars?k good, next.(I Don't Think so) Oh, classic Shelby just a little too predictable. We've seen it before. Or at least I have on pretty much all of these tracks-but hey, the chorusy bit there was a little catchy. One and a half stars? Actually no, the chorus just came on again and I do quite like it-let's make that two stars and everyone's happy.(I'm Alive) Hey pretty fast paced. Not too bad. Living isn't worth the fear of dying. Quite like this actually. Hey, Shelby, this is pretty good...Hey!This song is groovy.Three and a half stars, for sure.Whoo! I really like how angry and desperate this sounds actually.Okay time for I Will Stay. Ugh, hopelessly drippy. A half star. Please stop making that noise Shelby dear.Next.(Lonesome) Ooh, this is new, interesting hmm. Oh wow, very new. Ya know, I don't mind it. I guess it's a stab at blues or something a bit more old fashioned and honestly it didn't work out perfectly but at least Shelby had a crack and it wasn't disastrous. One and a half stars. Stop.Next.(Evil Man)Ya know, actually I can't be bothered to go on so I'm gonna stop there, good bye.
P.S. This was not me saying how awful Shelby Lynne is- I was pleasantly surprised in fact by how not- awful this was and even quite enjoyed a couple of the songs. And ummm she has a nice voice and everything.Yeah
